How NELFT built a talent pipeline of over 1,000 candidates in 6 months

Just R have been working with NELFT to build a recognisable and sustainable employer brand, with the creation of an innovative careers website, delivery of a successful values based digital attraction campaign and intermittent recruitment events hosted by the Trust.

NELFT is a Mental Health Trust providing services to people living in London and surrounding boroughs, as well as mental health services for young people in Essex, Kent and Medway. With over 6,500 staff, NELFT recruits to an array of specialties including Nurses, Social Workers, AHP’s, Psychologists, Medical & Dental, Pharmacy, and more. 

In just 7 months (data taken from Jan 2022 to July 2022), NELFT received a total of 1198 enquiries (the majority of which were in country) through the delivery of a values-based digital attraction campaign supported now by their bespoke careers site built by Just R, which launched in February 2022. Many of these candidates are high-quality, qualified or soon to be qualified and ready to work. The enquiries of interest are from a vast array of professions including Qualified and Student Nurses, Mental Health Nurses and Learning Disability Nurses, Qualified and Student Psychologists, Doctors, OT’s and Social Workers.

Our campaign with NELFT is an incredible example of how a strong and bespoke employer brand along with values based attraction and retention strategies plus an attractive, easy to navigate careers site works in getting values aligned, high-quality candidates to take action through applying to work at the Trust.

NELFT now have a strong pipeline of screened, values-based candidates that have been sustained over time and are always there to be reached by their newly appointed Trust candidate matchmaker.

Our recommendations with all campaigns is that the Trust resource teams with a ‘Candidate Matchmaker’ – someone who can take ownership of the pipeline and direct candidate applications to the relevant departments via their bespoke recruitment pipeline. Essentially, matching people to jobs, rather than the alternative of a person seeking to find a job that they might or might not be suitable for. 

This work all simplifies the candidate journey, treating candidates as people rather than numbers.
