Just R Take Part In NHS Employers Inspire, Attract and Recruit Webinar

Just R were asked by NHS Employers to take part in their December Inspire, Attract and Recruit webinar, showcasing case studies of several NHS Trusts’ successful attraction campaigns and initiatives. Our CEO, Rachael Bagshaw, joined Deputy Chief Nurse of Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust, Tracy Campbell, in detailing the results of Tameside’s October recruitment open day, at which the Trust appointed 46 nurses in a single day!

The purpose of the webinar was to showcase good practice presentations from speakers on how they inspire, attract and recruit staff, along with information on the support which can be provided by NHS Employers.

The session was opened by Victoria Hage, programme lead for domestic and international recruitment at NHS Employers, with a walkthrough of the Inspire, Attract and Recruit toolkit and the support it can provide Trusts in relation to their recruitment needs.

Tracy was tasked with presenting the results of Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust’s October “recruitment in a day” event, a campaign developed and delivered in collaboration with the Just R team. The project involved a high impact social media campaign, reaching over 40,000 relevant individuals and attracting 61 nurses to register to attend the recruitment open day. Tracy spoke of how candidates were taken through each stage of the recruitment process on the day – including a job offer being made at the event.

This process not only drives efficiencies to the recruitment process, it also creates a sense of excitement and positivity which is a great way for a candidate to start their emotional bond with an Organisation!

Tracy discussed how they successfully marketed the event and how they created an environment where candidates could be their best selves for their interview (with sneaky tips on how wellbeing massages can be involved!) The aim was for candidates and staff members alike to have a great experience on the day. There was even a cameraman on hand to capture celebrations of the new recruits – in the form of Just R’s very own Videographer Ben, on hand to capture the essence of the event and to support the promotion of similar events in the future. A case study of the project can be viewed here.

Gillian Cairns, Suzanne Lang and Denise Owen presented on how East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust has inspired people from communities who previously hadn’t considered a career in the NHS through a subject the Just R team are passionate about – new to care opportunities.

Aasha Cowey from Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and co-founder of @FlexNHS then spoke passionately, drawing from her own experience of leaving to then rejoin the NHS through an opportunity of greater flexibility offered within a new role. Aasha discussed the benefits of flexible working to both the individual and their Organisations, and gave practical solutions for how NHS Organisations can encourage and enable flexible working arrangements, and use the right of staff to request flexible working from day one of their employment as an attraction tool.

Just R are proud to be involved in supporting Trusts to develop longer term, strategic solutions to workforce challenges. It is fantastic to be involved in NHS initiatives such as this event. A full recording of the webinar can be watched by clicking here, and the slides can be downloaded.
