Finding Endoscopy Nurses for Norfolk & Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
The challenge
Helen Dove, Recruitment Advisor, came to us with this challenge:
“With 19 Band 5 registered nurse vacancies to be filled and traditional recruitment avenues not returning results, a new approach was needed. We contacted Just R, who we knew had proven NHS experience.”
We talked the challenge through with Helen in February, and by April – a three month period – we had filled all 19 vacancies for the teams state-of-the-art new Endoscopy Unit.


The solution
Working towards a specific open day date
The background to this project is that the Trust had trialed a variety of traditional advertising methods such as radio, outdoor, newspapers and buses, with little success. They were in need of an effective and quick solution to their growing recruitment need.
It was exactly the type of challenge we love. Having a clearly defined need with a deadline to work to, enables us to plan effective campaigns. Geography doesn’t phase us either – a restriction here meant that the work was developed entirely via online and telephone meetings.
We developed a targeted digital advertising campaign. This included the design of a fresh recruitment brand #TeamNNUH, which was delivered across Facebook and Instagram directly targeting the experienced Gastro nurses that were needed to open the unit.
Applicants were encouraged to register interest and pre apply online to arrange an interview slot for the open day in April.
Due to the success of this campaign, we’re now working alongside #TeamNNUH for the next 12 months. Delivering targeted advertising to fill current vacancies across a wide range of departments within the Trust, as well as working on the design and development of a brand new recruitment website.
